When we talk about the Christmas story, we rarely dwell on Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem. The trek from Nazareth was eighty miles and Mary was on the verge of having a child. Taking this difficult trip was not a choice they wanted to make. It was forced on them by the Romans. Hardships are to be expected in every Christian’s life. Chris August, a Christian songwriter, also overcame struggles in his career journey.

It is not always easy to follow God’s plan for our lives. There are times where it may feel like things are not going the right way. Sometimes we have to give up on what we want and trust in God, knowing He will guide us through any obstacle we face. Work through hardships with joy, knowing you are growing in your walk with God. Are you facing trials in your life? Take time this Christmas season to remember the trials that Mary and Joseph went through. They may give insight into your life and God’s plan for you.
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
