Uncertainty is a part of life. Unexpected change is inevitable and can often lead to fear and anxiety. In times of great trouble, it is easy to begin to fear the unknown. We have concerns for our finances. We worry for the people we love. There is fear we will lose the life we have. We begin to rely on our own understanding and forget to rely on God. Brandon Heath talks about the power of choosing faith over fear in times of hardship.

It is easy to trust in the Lord when life is going well. While this is true, we must remember to keep that trust when life is filled with challenges. Brandon Heath compared faith to being our “lifeline to the Lord.” We can have faith in our God for He provides what we truly need. He has redeemed us and called us by our name. We are saved! For that reason, we do not have to fear the things of this world. We can be confident in the good news that He has given us. Do not let fear “poison” the richness of God’s provision for your life. In these hard times remember to resist the desire to rely on your own understanding. Instead choose to have faith in the God who saves.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
for we walk by faith, not by sight.
But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
