Moses wrote Psalm 91 during a difficult time. After leading the Israelites out of captivity, he led them for 40 years in the wilderness. There were many hardships and uncertainties, yet the Lord provided for them. But pressure was mounting for Moses to deliver the Israelites to the land God had promised. In the midst of the unknown, Moses wrote Psalm 91. Kyle Idleman shares about what God has taught him to do with fear in the unknown.

As you look at all the uncertainties in the future, it can be easy to lean into fear. Fear is something that will always knock on our door. Our response is what is important. In Psalm 91, Moses's response to fear is to declare who God is and His promises to His people. This type of mindset is hard to step into amongst moments of overwhelming fear. We can rely on God to help us face our fear and declare the truth that God says.
The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your saints shall bless you!
You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
